16 July 2010 - We made it to Florida!







First stop was the old fort at Saint Augustine, Florida. After that it was on to Kurt & Emilia's house in Daytona Beach, FL. Did I mention there are snakes in Kurt & Emilia's house!!

15 July 2010 - Savannah GA - Visit with Nikki




We spent a couple of days in Savannah, GA, visiting with Amber and Brian's cousin, Nikki. It was a great visit!

13 July 2010 - South Carolina and American History





We moved on to South Carolina and visited the Revolutionary War Battlefield of Cowpens on the way to Charleston, SC, where we visited Fort Sumter where the first shots of the Civil War were fired in 1861. We also toured a WWII submarine and the WWII aircraft carrier Yorktown (2nd one, the first was sunk at the Battle of Midway).

12 July 2010 - Visit to North Carolina




We crossed over the Tennessee North Carolina border in the Great Smokey Mountains and then visited The Cherokee Nation and then on to the largest private home in America - The Biltmore Estate located in Asheville, NC.

11 July 2010 - Gatlinburg, Tennessee




Toured Gatlinburg and the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Yes, we saw a black bear!! We also heard a very load bear roar while we were hiking to a falls, very impressive and I definitely don't want to meet a bear one on one!

10 July 2010 - Pigeon River Whitewater Rafting



We made it to the Great Smokey Mountains and first off went whitewater rafting on the Pigeon River...as Amber put it...AWESOME! The water was up, so we got up to class 4 whitewater! Sweet! NOC had photographers along the river, so we have some awesome photos coming in the mail.

09 July 2010 - The Grand Ole Opry!




What a great night! The Grand Ole Opry has moved back into Ryman Auditorium due to the spring flooding; which turned out to be great since it was the home of the Opry in the 1940s to 1970s located in downtown Nashville.

09 July 2010 - The Hermitage & Belle Meade Plantation



First stop Nashville, Tennessee. We all enjoyed touring Andrew Jackson's home, The Hermitage and the birth place of true thoroughbred horses, Belle Meade Plantation. Tonight off to the Grand Ole Opry!

Off to the East with Brian and Amber!



Today we departed St Louis, MO, for this year's summer trip with our nephew and niece, Brian and Amber. Last year we went west, this year it's to the East and South. Our first stop is Nashville, TN.
