31 July 2010 - Final Day of our Summer "Seminar"

Yes, it came to an end! Another annual summer seminar with our faux-children, better known as our niece and nephew. Was it too long? Take a look at the last photo I took this summer before Brian and Amber departed back to St Louis with their grandparents. OK, we loved it! And we're looking forward to a 2011 summer seminar, perhaps a little shorter and closer to the mid-west. Cheers!

29-30 July - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Our last stop of the summer! We stayed at a very nice "boutique" historic hotel, The Alexander Inn, in downtown Philadelphia, walking distance from Independence Hall. It reminded me of staying in New York City, only smaller. Definitely a return trip is in store for us.

27 July 2010 - Yorktown, VA, The End of a Long Day

We finally reached our home in Yorktown. Where we spent a couple of down days and hooked up with Kim's mom, Sue, and her husband Larry who drove in from St Louis to come with us to our last stop of the summer, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

27 July 2010 Kitty Hawk, North Caroline

The 27th of July was a very busy day! Before departing for our home in Yorktown, we made one last trip to the Kitty Hawk National Park to see were the Wright brothers launch the age of powered flight.

27 July 2010 Roanoke Island, North Carolina

Continuing North we stopped on Roanoke Island, the site of the "Lost Colony." The morning show at the National Park outdoor theater was the Princess and the Frog which was unexpected and very enjoyable.

27 July 2010 New Bern, North Carolina

As we continue North, we stopped at the small coastal town of New Bern.

26 July 2010 Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Heading North, we stopped off at Myrtle Beach, SC, to have a nice Atlantic Ocean day! The waves were great thanks to tropical storms off the coast.

25 July 2010 - Brief stop at Kurt and Emilia's in Daytona Beach

We stayed with Kurt and Emilia on our way North. Everyone had a chance to catch up on their texting and computer time.

24 July 2010 - Bahia Honda Beach in the Keys

We made a short stop at Bahia Honda on our way back up the Keys.

22-23 July 2010

We had a few days "rest" at the Navy Lodge in Key West. Tropical Storm Bonnie came through so we couldn't go on our planned snorkeling trip, but we still had a very interesting stay. Luckily Brian and Amber got to hold the bar of gold on display at the Mel Fisher Museum just a couple of weeks before it was Stolen!!

21 July 2010 - Sanabel Island - Shell Hunting

After a great day with my extended "Louisiana" family in Largo, Florida, we headed down to Sanibel Island to so some shell hunting....some folks get up at 3 a.m. and down down to the beach with flashlights to pick shells! We went down at 7:30 a.m. and there were still a "few" shells left!!

18-19 July 2010 Disney Resorts and Universal Studios

We had two great days at Universal Studios and Brian and Amber enjoyed the pool at the Disney Resort. However, Disney Resorts was a great disappointment as far as accommodations and service was concerned. I will never stay at Disney Resorts again!

17 July 2010 Kennedy Space Center

The kids were amazed at the size of Saturn V rocket that was on display there.
